This course introduces its students to the world of graphic design and visual communication. The course equips you with professional skills enabling you to create and design your own publications for print.

The course will give you an overview of the complete professional Graphic Design production process: from the development of visual concepts and communication strategies, project planning and pitching to the design implementation in professional graphic software, pre-press, quality control and finally the successful presentation of the final product.

Aims

you want to learn how to create professional designs and layouts

you already have skills in that field but want to work more efficiently or “update” your skills
you want to further develop your visual “eye“ and aesthetic perception
you are passionate about visual design and print media
you intend to study further in this area

This course can be used as a ‘stepping stone’ for students who wish to progress to our more advanced qualifications, the Diploma of Multimedia and the BA (Hons) Multimedia Arts degree.

Design principles, typography, color theory, visual concepts, communication strategies, professional skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, pre-press, design of symbols and logos, business cards, letterheads, advertisements, brochures, CD covers, posters and labels, project management.

Entry Requirements

Note: There are no academic requirements to participate in this programme. The only entry requirement is for the participant to be at least 17 years of age upon commencement of the course.

Slobodan Jovanović - Coba

Slobodan Jovanovic-Coba was born and raised in Belgrade and has been actively involved in the design world since 1985. He was the Art Director at Trans:East:Design, Creative Director at ICPS Infinity advertising agency and is currently Creative Director at his own studio, Coba & Associates.

He has worked for the biggest regional and multinational clients and brands and his portfolio contains more than 200 corporate identities, a large number of advertising campaigns and packaging designs. His work has also been published in several design books.

In 2009 he was the founder and Creative Director for Designed.rs, a design-based web magazine and he is very much involved in issues around location specific branding. He also occasionally DJs at various Belgrade clubs.
