BA/BSc (Hons) Animation

  • The Bachelor of Arts / Science (Hons) Animadion is a two-year academic programme which combines high technical skills with theory, through specific mentoring methodology.

This program is most suitable for those with advanced career ambitions. Degree graduates will master the suite of technical skills required to pursue a lucrative career in this exciting and dynamic industry.

The solid technical base of SAE hands-on programme, combined with an academic background, this makes profficiency in industry of games development or 3D production.

BA/BSc (Hons) Animation - Visual Effects (180 ECTS)

BA/BSc (Hons) Animation - Game Art (180 ECTS)

This is a unique programmedesigned for rapid mastering of the most popular software at the market: Adobe package (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), Autodesk (Maya, Mudbox, 3D Max, Motion Builder), Unreal Engine 4, etc.

Even after the first year of study the students gain the essential skills: 3D modeling, texturing, materialisation, lighting and rendering, keyframe animation, character animation, dynamic simulation, compositing, motion graphics,game design, level design, VFX, etc.

During the second year the students have the opportunity to specialise in a field of their choice.

After graduation all the students leave the school with the rich portfolio and the showcase of their skills for prospective employment opportunities. Maany of them get the job even while studying.

Entry Requirements

      • Minimum age 17 and completion of a high school or equivalent; or
      • Mature age students over 21 years on receipt of suitable evidence, considered to have a reasonable chance of success in the program.
      • English Language Requirements

        Students whose first language is not English will need a qualification that demonstrates competence in English.

        For Non EU/EEA applicants, approved English Language Tests include:

        • IELTS(Academic and General) band score 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 within each component)
            • TOEFL - no less than 80
            • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

          Applicants who hold a qualification from another institution, or who have formally completed components of another qualification, must submit authorised evidence of those achievements at the time of application to SAE Institute.

Qualification.

After the first year of study: SAE Diploma.
After the second year of study: University diploma: Bachelor’s Degree, Middlesex University, London, UK.

Duration and lectures

      • 2 years / 3 semesters per year
      • The programme is based on 3 hours lectures per day / 3 hours individual work.

Programme Content

Creative Media Practice

This module begins with an evolutionary analysis of the social, political, technological and economic changes which have helped shape entertainment and the entertainment industry over time, focusing on the roles of and interaction between artist, Producer and marketing forces leading up to the 21st Century. The module will also cover today’s structure and operation of the film, gaming, and Internet industries. Contemporary issues are explored in ways that encourage students to take an active part in professional dialogue. Students will be required to prepare a proposal for their research project in the form of a ‘Learning Agreement’.

Advanced Practice

This Module focuses on professional development and awareness. Students will be introduced to generic professional skills ranging from presentation skills and project planning to management, marketing, and law to be able to operate independently within the industry. Additionally, specific applications and needs of selected fields within the industry will be examined and students will be required to undertake an internship, as a means of application of previously acquired knowledge.

Specialized Research Project

This section of the course allows students to undertake an approved research project. The thesis is designed to show a student’s ability to initiate, implement and evaluate a substantial creative/technical project as a result of cognitive abilities put into effect within a limited time frame. Mentoring and support will be provided by qualified SAE staff to assist the students, who will have to submit their final thesis on the last day of class and defend it in front of a panel of assessors.
